2025 Volkswagen Golf 1.4 TSI
Volkswagen South Africa is gearing up for a massive year in 2025 with a lineup of exciting new models set to hit showrooms. From an all-new seven-seater SUV to updates for some of the brand’s best-selling vehicles, here’s what you can expect.

Volkswagen Tayron
Volkswagen is introducing the Tayron, a brand-new seven-seater SUV that slots between the Tiguan and the Touareg. Set to arrive in the second half of 2025, the Tayron is built in Wolfsburg, Germany, and inherits some high-tech features from the flagship Touareg.

Two trim levels will be available:
- Tayron Life: This model comes well-equipped with a three-zone automatic climate control system, nine airbags, adaptive cruise control, and a wireless infotainment system compatible with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. LED headlights, illuminated VW logos, and 17-inch alloy wheels come standard.
- Tayron R-Line: The sportier variant features leather sports seats, 19-inch alloys, LED Plus headlights, a dynamic cornering light system, and ambient lighting with 30 colour options.
Optional features include IQ.LIGHT HD matrix headlights, a Harman Kardon sound system, a panoramic sunroof, and massaging ventilated ergoActive Plus seats.

Volkswagen Golf
The updated Volkswagen Golf arrives in the first quarter of 2025 with refreshed styling, more technology, and an illuminated front VW logo for the first time. The new Golf comes in Life, Life +, R-Line, and R-Line + trims.
Standard features across the range include a 12.9-inch infotainment touchscreen, a digital driver display, Wireless App Connect, and ambient lighting. The R-Line models add a sportier look, progressive steering, keyless entry, and Park Assist, while the range-topping R-Line + gets Vienna leather seats, heated and ventilated front seats, and IQ Matrix LED headlights.
Under the hood, all variants get a 1.4-litre TSI engine with 110 kW and 250 Nm, paired with an 8-speed Tiptronic transmission.

Volkswagen T-Cross
Volkswagen is expanding its best-selling T-Cross lineup with two new entry-level derivatives arriving for the 2025 model year.
- T-Cross 1.0 TSI 70 kW manual: Features include an 8-inch digital instrument cluster, multi-function steering wheel, App-Connect, hill start assist, and a tyre pressure monitoring system.
- T-Cross 1.0 TSI 85 kW DSG: Adds LED headlights, park distance control, heated exterior mirrors, and a driver attention monitor.
Both models offer excellent fuel economy, with the manual variant achieving 5.9 L/100 km and the DSG version at 5.6L/100 km.

All T-Cross models come with a 3-year/120 000 km warranty, a 3-year/45 000 km service plan, and a 12-year anti-corrosion warranty.

Volkswagen Transporter
The new-generation Transporter is set to launch in the second half of 2025, offering increased space, improved payload capacity, and advanced tech. At launch, it will be available as a long-wheelbase panel van with two engine choices:
- 2.0 TDI (81 kW, 6-speed manual)
- 2.0 TDI (110 kW, 8-speed automatic)
Standard equipment across the range includes LED headlights, a 12-inch digital driver display, a 13-inch infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, keyless start, lane assist, and an electronic parking brake with auto hold.
The panel van version comes standard with a partition, and the new design allows for better storage, cup holders, and easier cabin access. The Transporter can now tow up to 2.8 tonnes, with a maximum payload of 1.33 tonnes.

Volkswagen Unveils the New Crafter for 2025
Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles will launch the new Crafter in the first half of 2025, featuring a fully digital cockpit with a 10.3-inch infotainment system and an upgraded interface for a more intuitive experience. The handbrake, automatic gearbox switch, light controls, and vents have all been redesigned for improved ergonomics.
A host of standard features elevate the Crafter’s practicality, including a multi-function steering wheel, keyless start, hill-hold, inductive phone charging, and front and rear Park Distance Control.
The new model offers three vehicle lengths (5.9 m, 6.84 m, 7.39 m) and three roof heights (up to 2.79 m), with front- or rear-wheel drive, a 6-speed manual or 8-speed automatic, and optional 4MOTION all-wheel drive. Gross Vehicle Weight (GVW) options range from 3.50 to 5.00 tonnes. The new Crafter boasts up to 17.5 m³ of cargo space and a maximum cargo height of 2 096 mm.
Power comes from a 2.0-litre TDI in 103 kW, 120 kW, and 130 kW outputs. An 8-speed automatic is standard on ’50’ variants, while the ’35 4MOTION’ gets a long-wheelbase option.
