2023 Isuzu D-Max Arctic AT35

The next-gen Isuzu Arctic is now in South Africa, and it's better!

Isuzu has lifted the veil on its second-generation D-Max Arctic AT35. This very unique and very special bakkie will be proudly built at Isuzu South Africa’s plant in Gqeberha, and will only be produced upon customer requests.

For R1 120 620, the bakkie can be ordered through Isuzu’s South African dealer channel. The bakkie maker says the new Arctic is sold with a standard five-year/90 000 km service plan, 5-year/120 000 km warranty and roadside assistance, and 5 year/unlimited distance anti-corrosion warranty.

Kevin Fouche, Department Executive: Product Planning and Programme Management at ISUZU Motors South Africa, says: “We launched the first-generation D-MAX Arctic AT35 in 2019, and it quickly earned an enviable reputation as one of the boldest, toughest and most capable 4×4 bakkies on the market,”

“The new D-MAX Arctic AT35 carries this legacy into the seventh-generation D-MAX range.

“As the range-topping model in the D-MAX line-up, the AT35 appeals to buyers who want to stand out from the crowd, as well as those aiming to exploit the vehicle’s adventurous nature and its remarkable off-road capabilities.”

Off-road intent

The new D-Max Arctic AT35 is based on the previous top model in the range, the V-Cross 4×4 double cab. And though the two bakkies share many things, they also don’t. Ground clearance, for instance, has been increased to 266mm from the V-Cross’ 232mm, and the AT35’s height as at an impressive 1 875mm – up 65mm over the bakkie it’s based on.

The new bakkie rides on 35-inch BF Goodrich all-terrain tyres, surrounding beautifully scalpted 17×10-inch AT black alloy wheels.

The bakkie’s wading depth increases by 65mm to 865mm, and the approach and departure angle are improved to 33 degrees and 23-degrees, respectively.

The Arctic AT35 uses the same 3.0-litre turbodiesel engine as the rest of the D-Max range, with power unchanged at 140kW and 450Nm. Power is sent to the road via a six-speed automatic transmission.

The D-Max is available to order now.
