2025 Haval H7

GWM is kicking off the new year with its long-awaited new model, the Haval H7.

The GWM Haval H7 has officially debuted in South Africa, marking a significant milestone for Great Wall Motor Company.

Positioned as the flagship model above the popular Haval H6, the H7 combines luxury with off-road capability, embodying GWM’s technical expertise. Its striking design and enhanced dimensions set it apart, making it an eye-catching addition to South African roads.

The H7 departs from the design language of the Jolion, H6, and H6 GT, embracing a more rugged aesthetic. Squared-off contours, round headlights, bold wheel arches, and a sculpted side profile define its presence.

Built on the same platform as the H6, the H7 is both wider and taller, with a 210 mm ground clearance and a commanding stance. Available in four colours – Hamilton White, Sun Black, Grey, and Orange – the exterior also features 19-inch alloy wheels, LED lighting, and functional roof rails.

Inside, the H7 caters to family comfort and luxury with a meticulously designed cabin. Highlights include a 14.6-inch floating infotainment screen and a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, both boasting high brightness and resolution. Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto come standard, and the Super Luxury variant adds a head-up display.

Practical touches include wide-opening doors, integrated grab handles, and a versatile rear luggage compartment, which expands from 483 to 1 362 litres. Other luxury features include panoramic sunroofs, leather upholstery, and adjustable seats, with cooling and memory functions on the Super Luxury models.

Powering the Haval H7 are two distinct powertrain options. The first is the 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine, producing 170 kW and 380 Nm of torque, paired with a 9-speed wet dual-clutch transmission. This variant offers both front-wheel and all-wheel-drive configurations.

The second option, available later in the year, is a hybrid system that combines a turbo-petrol engine with GWM’s Dual Hybrid Transmission (DHT). Delivering 179 kW and 530 Nm, this system promises strong acceleration and efficient performance, available in a front-wheel-drive layout.

The 4WD models come equipped with advanced off-road features, including an all-terrain mode system that adapts settings for various surfaces like sand, snow, and mud. An electronic rear differential lock and Off-Road Cruise Control enhance its rugged capabilities, while an approach angle of 24 degrees, a departure angle of 30 degrees, and a fully laden ground clearance of 210mm underscore its off-road prowess.

Safety is a priority in the H7, with standard features across the range including six airbags, electronic stability control, traction control, hill descent control, and a 360-degree camera system. Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) provide intelligent cruise control, emergency braking, and lane-keeping assistance, ensuring a secure and comfortable driving experience.

Two models are currently available: the 2.0T Luxury at R601 950 and the 2.0T Super Luxury 4WD at R671 950. The 1.5T Super Luxury Hybrid, priced at R730 950, will join the lineup later in the year. The H7 is backed by a comprehensive 7-year/200,000km warranty, a 7-year service plan, and an 8-year warranty on hybrid components.
