2025 Ford Mustang GT
The seventh-generation Ford Mustang has officially arrived in South Africa, bringing a fresh take on a storied automotive icon. This latest model maintains the Mustang’s legendary status, combining fighter jet-inspired digital interior features with a refined yet classic exterior design, along with Ford’s powerful 5.0-litre V8 engine, to deliver an unmatched driving experience.
Since its debut in 1964, the Ford Mustang has been an emblem of American muscle and style, with over 10 million units sold worldwide. It quickly became the US’ best-selling sports car and, in recent years, has maintained its dominance globally. South Africa welcomed the Mustang in 2016 with the right-hand drive sixth-generation model, which became an overwhelming success, selling over 4 000 units locally. The newest model looks set to carry this legacy forward, offering one of the few remaining naturally aspirated V8 engines on the market.
Priced at R1 300 000, the Mustang GT Fastback 5.0L V8 comes with a six-year/90 000 km service plan, a four-year/120 000 km warranty, and additional coverage options.

Bold, Yet Timeless
The seventh-generation Mustang retains the aggressive, bold look that Mustang enthusiasts love. The front grille design, inspired by the original 1960s model, includes large openings for optimal airflow, supporting the performance of the 5.0-litre V8 engine. New hood vents and a redesigned rear diffuser enhance aerodynamics, while classic tri-bar LED headlights maintain Mustang’s signature style. Available in eight colours, the Mustang GT offers a choice of Ebony Black multi-spoke or machined Tarnished Dark Aluminum 19-inch wheels, accentuating its muscular stance.
Inside, the Mustang GT features a fully digital, driver-centric cockpit. A 12.4-inch digital instrument cluster integrates seamlessly with a 13.2-inch SYNC 4 infotainment system, offering gaming-level 3D graphics powered by the Unreal Engine. Users can easily customize drive modes and visuals, further enhanced by ambient multi-colour lighting. The Mustang GT also introduces Remote Rev, which allows drivers to rev the V8 engine using the key fob – a unique touch for enthusiasts.
Comfort hasn’t been overlooked. Black Onyx leather seats with heating and cooling options, dual-zone climate control, a B&O 12-speaker sound system, and a wireless charging pad ensure a luxurious driving experience.

Thrilling V8
At the heart of the Mustang GT is a fourth-generation 5.0-litre Coyote V8, producing 328 kW and 540 Nm of torque. Ford’s 10-speed automatic transmission adapts to various drive modes, enhancing the Mustang’s versatility on different terrains. The Performance Pack, standard in South Africa, includes track-focused additions such as MagneRide suspension, larger Brembo brakes, and a limited-slip differential. It even has an electronic drift brake, allowing novice and expert drivers alike to explore drifting capabilities.

Sunil Sewmohan, executive director, Product Marketing at Ford South Africa, says:
“The new Mustang not only delivers upon the lofty expectations that our customers had for the vehicle, but surpasses them. It adds another exciting chapter to this legendary nameplate, delivering the looks, sound and appeal of the world’s best-selling sports coupe with its even bolder styling, advanced interior, enhanced performance and engaging driving experience. Based on extensive customer research we are launching the Mustang in GT Fastback guise with the 5.0L V8 and 10-speed automatic transmission only.”
