2023 GWM P-Series LTD
GWM’s P-Series has been very popular in South Africa since its launch in 2020, and now the Chinese brand is expanding its bakkie offering with the addition of the P-Series LTD.
Available in 4×4 guise only, the P-Series LTD slots above the LS and LT models in the double cab range, and is it distinguishable by its 18-inch Gloss Black Sports Alloy wheels shod with all-terrain tyres.
The door handles and side mirrors are the same colour as the bodywork. There is also a black sport bar, a plastic bedliner, and front and rear bumpers to enhance the top-of-the-range look.
Standard items on the new GWM P-Series LTD include Hill Descent Control, a 360-degree camera, a tyre pressure monitoring system, dual front airbags with side, curtain, and front central airbags, and ISOFIX mountings.
In-car entertainment is provided by a multimedia touchscreen offering Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility.
Familiar power
GWM opted to fit the P-Series LTD with the familiar 2.0-litre turbodiesel engine as found in the rest of the range. Power remains fixed at 120kW and 400Nm, with the latter available between 1 500 and 2 500rpm. An eight-speed ZF automatic gearbox channels power to the road.
The P-Series LTD is offered with a fully selectable 4×4 system, boasting driving modes that cover 2H, 4H, Snow, Mud, Sand, and 4L. There are front and rear differential locks.
Other additions to the bakkie include a black roof rail, a specifically developed snorkel, a front winch that can pull up to 4.2 tonnes, a 12-Volt accessory connector in the engine bay, and a 120 Watt 220V socket located next to the rear USB port.
“All the high levels of specification and luxury from the original P-Series Passenger Double Cab range are included as well, giving the LTD one of the highest levels of comfort and safety specification available on the market – at a very competitive price of under R700 000,” says Conrad Groenewald, Chief Operations Officer of GWM South Africa.
“The LTD is a natural progression for GWM given the growing demand from business users and private buyers alike for double cab bakkies.”
The GWM P-Series LTD retails for R694 950 and is covered by a 5-year/100 000km warranty and service plan.
