2025 Mitsubishi Outlander Sport
Mitsubishi Motors South Africa has introduced the all-new Outlander Sport, adding another compact SUV to its lineup. Designed for everyday practicality and comfort, the Outlander Sport aims to balance modern styling with Mitsubishi’s reputation for durability and capability.
The new model brings updated exterior styling, a refined and tech-rich interior, and a focus on efficiency with its 1.5-litre MIVEC engine paired with a CVT. It also features advanced safety and driver assistance systems, making it a competitive option in the compact SUV segment.
With four trim levels – GL, GLS, Aspire, and Exceed – the Outlander Sport offers a variety of features to suit different customer needs.

Exterior Design
The Outlander Sport follows Mitsubishi’s “Silky & Solid” design philosophy, which merges sleek lines with muscular proportions. The front end is dominated by the latest evolution of Mitsubishi’s “Dynamic Shield” grille, flanked by LED daytime running lights forming a distinctive T-shape. The front bumper incorporates a three-dimensional design, adding a sportier stance.
At the rear, the SUV mirrors the front’s T-shaped LED lighting, contributing to a wide and stable look. The floating roof effect and sculpted fender flares enhance its rugged appeal while maintaining an urban-friendly design.

Interior Features
Inside, Mitsubishi has focused on enhancing space, comfort, and technology. The dashboard follows the “Horizontal Axis” design, which improves forward visibility, particularly useful when navigating rough terrain.
A 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system with multi-widget functionality dominates the centre console in higher trims, while the GL and GLS models get an 8-inch unit. Inspired by the legendary Mitsubishi Pajero, the digital driver display offers essential driving information, including altitude and tilt angles.
Passenger comfort is a priority, with spacious seating in both the front and rear. The rear seats offer class-leading legroom and eight reclining levels for added flexibility. High-quality materials, including a modern melange fabric for the dashboard and door trim, give the cabin a sophisticated feel. Dual-zone automatic climate control, rear air vents, and a wireless charging tray further enhance passenger convenience.

Powertrain and Performance
The Outlander Sport is powered by a 1.5-litre DOHC 16-valve MIVEC engine producing 77 kW at 6 000 rpm and 141 Nm of torque at 4 000 rpm. It is paired with a continuously variable transmission (CVT) designed for efficiency and smooth acceleration.
Though only available in a front-wheel-drive configuration, Mitsubishi has incorporated various technologies to enhance performance. Four selectable drive modes – Normal, Wet, Gravel, and Mud – adjust traction control and power distribution to optimize handling in different conditions. Active Yaw Control further improves stability by adjusting power delivery between the wheels.
The suspension setup includes MacPherson struts at the front and a torsion beam at the rear, designed for comfort on both urban roads and rougher terrains. The Outlander Sport also boasts a ground clearance of 222 mm, making it well-suited for occasional off-road use.
