2023 Hyundai Venue Cargo
Hyundai South Africa expands its cargo offering with the launch of the new Venue Cargo. The decision to adapt the SUV to this application was easy, says the automaker, as it now turns the vehicle into a commercial one with a payload of 500kg.
The Venue Cargo joins the Grandi10 Cargo as the two utility vehicles in Hyundai’s passenger car portfolio, and features a steel mesh/grid between the front seats and the enlarged cargo area. Smaller steel grids are fitted to the rear side window openings and the rear window in the hatchback.
“We have had considerable success with the Grand i10 Cargo, which was the first car in Hyundai’s local range to be converted into a two-seater with a secure load area for commercial use. After careful consideration we identified the entry-level small SUV in our range, the Venue, to be well suited for a bigger Cargo derivative,” says Stanley Anderson, sales and operations director of Hyundai Automotive South Africa.
“Compared to the alternatives available from competitive brands at a similar price, the running cost of the Hyundai Cargo vehicles is very low. Furthermore, they are backed by an industry-leading warranty for 7 years or 200 000km, which makes a lot of sense considering the high mileage covered daily by such a commercial vehicle.”

Convenience features
The Venue Cargo’s interior offers intuitive controls and excellent use of dimensions to create a spacious cabin for the driver and front passenger, according to Hyundai.
The main feature of the Cargo’s interior is its big load compartment behind the front seats with a 1 296 litre capacity. The dimensions of the cargo compartment are: length (1 200 mm), width (1 200mm) and height (900mm).
Convenience features include an infotainment system that features an 8-inch display audio touchscreen system and a rearview monitor in the front console. The system works with both Apple CarPlay and Android Auto functions for applicable smartphone applications, including app-based navigation, as well as streaming audio and voice-controlled search capabilities.
The Venue Cargo is equipped with a manual air conditioner.

Engine and price
The naturally aspirated four-cylinder 1.2-litre petrol engine delivers 61kW maximum power and 115Nm maximum torque. Drive is send to the front wheels via a five-speed manual transmission. Hyundai claims an average fuel consumption of 6.5-litres/100km, measured in a mix of open-road, highway, and city driving.
The Hyundai Venue Cargo retails for R329 900 and includes a 7-year or 150 000km roadside assistance and a 3-year or 45 000km service plan. Service intervals are at 15 000km, or annually when applicable.
