2023 Alfa Romeo Stelvio 2.0T Veloce Q4
Alfa Romeo launched the updated of its Stelvio in South Africa. The Stelvio was the Italian brand’s first foray into the highly competitive SUV segment, but it’s held its own against fierce rivals.
Now, with the updated model debuting on local soil, Alfa Romeo is ready to go all out as aims to make the Stelvio the first-choice SUV.
Design-wise, Alfa Romeo gave the Stelvio a new grille and redesigned headlights that feature full-LED Adaptive Matrix technology. There is also a group of rear LED lights that add to the SUV’s sophisticated design and styling.
The Stelvio continues with the same design as its predecessor, but a quick visit to the surgeon’s room has made it fresher for the next phase of its lifecycle.
Inside, a completely new 12.3-inch TFT screen displays all the vehicle’s information. The display can also be adjusted according to three themes – Evolved, Relax, and Heritage – each adding a unique nuance to the seating experience.

Models and power
As before, the Alfa Romeo Stelvio range in South Africa will comprise two models: the Stelvio 2.0T Veloce Q4 and the Stelvio Quadrifoglio Q4.
The turbocharged 2.0-litre petrol engine in the Veloce offers 206kW and 400Nm, allowing for a 0-100km/h sprint time of 5.7 seconds.
The high-performance Quadrifoglio is a real beast, sourcing its power from a Ferrari-derived 2.9-litre V6 engine. Thanks to turbocharging, the engine offers 375kW and 600Nm, launching the SUV off the line to 0-100km/h in 3.8sec, while the top speed is a claimed 283km/h.
Both SUVs are offered with Alfa Romeo’s Q4 all-wheel-drive system. This system is primarily rear-wheel biased, with both SUVs running through the rear tyres in most conditions. Should the system detect a need for more grip, no matter the situation, it will instantly transfer up to 50% of the engine’s torque to the front wheels.
This process takes less than 150 milliseconds.
