The BMW M2 CS arrives in SA in 2026, and it's insanely powerful!

BMW M GmbH has unveiled the BMW M2 CS, a high-performance sports car that redefines driving dynamics in the compact sports car segment.

Showcased on 23 May at the prestigious Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este, this BMW M2 CS 2026 model continues the legacy of iconic predecessors like the BMW 2002 turbo and the 2019 M2 CS. With enhanced BMW M2 CS performance, innovative lightweight design, and track-ready features, it promises an exhilarating experience for enthusiasts seeking sheer driving pleasure.

At the core of the BMW M2 CS is an upgraded 3.0-litre six-cylinder in-line engine with BMW M TwinPower Turbo technology, delivering an impressive 390 kW – 37 kW more than the standard M2 and matching the BMW M3 and M4 Competition models. Paired with an eight-speed M Steptronic transmission with Drivelogic, the BMW M2 CS engine produces 650 Nm of torque from 2 650 to 5 730 rpm, enabling the track-ready BMW M2 to sprint from 0 to 100 km/h in just 3.8 seconds (3.5 seconds with the “1-foot (30.48 cm) rollout” method).

It reaches 200 km/h in 11.7 seconds and boasts a top speed of 302 km/h, courtesy of the standard M Driver’s Package. Racing-derived features, including a rigid crankcase and advanced cooling, ensure the BMW M2 CS specs shine under intense conditions.

The BMW M2 lightweight design reduces weight by approximately 30 kilograms compared to the standard M2, thanks to extensive use of carbon-fibre sports car components like the roof, rear diffuser, and boot lid. Forged M light-alloy wheels – 19 inches at the front and 20 inches at the rear – come with track tires, enhancing grip and agility for this high-performance sports car. The adaptive M suspension, lowered by 8 mm, and M Compound brakes with red callipers (with an optional M Carbon ceramic system) ensure precise handling and stopping power.

The exterior of the BMW M2 CS exudes aggression with a black M kidney grille, matte black front splitter, and carbon-fibre sports car elements, available in four colours: Sapphire Black, Velvet Blue, Brooklyn Grey, and Portimao Blue metallic. Inside, the BMW M2 CS features include M Carbon bucket seats with Merino leather, a CFRP centre console, and an M Alcantara steering wheel, blending racing flair with luxury.

The BMW Operating System 8.5 powers a 12.3-inch information display and a 14.9-inch control display, with M-specific readouts and digital climate controls. Standard equipment includes BMW Live Cockpit Professional, Harman Kardon audio, and advanced driver assistance systems.

Set to be produced in limited numbers at BMW’s San Luis Potosí plant in Mexico, the M2 CS South Africa launch is scheduled for Q2 2026. While the BMW M2 CS price remains undisclosed, this exclusive model is poised to dominate the compact sports car segment with unmatched BMW M2 CS performance and style.
