2024 Omoda C5 Style
Omoda South Africa has unveiled a new entry-level version of its popular C5 crossover, making the brand more accessible to South African new-car buyers.
The new model, dubbed the C5 Style, is priced at R359 900, significantly lowering the starting price of the C5 lineup by R88 000. Despite its position as the entry-level variant, the C5 Style is far from basic. It shares the same exterior design as the higher-spec C5 Tech and introduces a new Bloodstone Red colour to the range.
Under the hood, it is powered by a turbocharged 1.5-litre petrol engine, delivering 115kW and 230Nm of torque to the front wheels. This powertrain is paired with a continuously variable transmission (CVT) that includes manual-shifting capabilities, ensuring a responsive and engaging driving experience.
The C5 Style boasts an impressive list of standard features. Inside, drivers will find a leather-trimmed steering wheel, front sports seats, and dual 10.25-inch displays -one serving as the instrument cluster and the other as a touchscreen system. The infotainment system supports wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and the six-speaker sound system ensures quality audio.
Other notable features include a reversing camera, automatic air conditioning, cruise control, automatic LED headlights, and 17-inch alloy wheels.
Safety is a priority for the C5 Style, which comes equipped with ABS with EBD, electronic stability control, tyre-pressure monitoring, rear parking sensors, an electric parking brake, Isofix child-seat anchors, four airbags, and seatbelt reminders for both the driver and front passenger.
Omoda’s General Manager, Hans Greyling, highlighted the strategic pricing of the new model, stating:
“While the C5 range was competitively priced right from the outset, we believe this smartly specified new Style derivative will help us to welcome even more customers into the Omoda family.”
In terms of after-sales support, the C5 Style comes with a 2-year/30 000 km service plan, a 5-year/150 000 km factory warranty, and 5 years of Roadside Assist. The engine is also covered by an industry-leading 10-year/1-million km warranty, which is linked to the vehicle’s first owner.
With its combination of affordability, robust features, and strong warranties, the C5 Style stands out as a compelling choice in the competitive crossover market.
