The all-new 2025 Opel Grandland has landed in South Africa, transforming from the previous “Blandland” into a striking midsize family SUV.
Available in 1.6T Edition (R739 900) and the feature-packed 1.6T GS Line variant priced at R789,900, this second-generation Opel Grandland 1.6T directly challenges rivals like the Volkswagen Tiguan, Kia Sportage, Mazda CX-5, Chery Tiggo 8 Pro, and Haval H6.
With its bold Opel Vizor design, advanced Intelli-Lux Pixel HD headlights, and refined German engineering, the new Opel Grandland 2025 offers premium European flair in a segment dominated by value-oriented options.

Design: Inside & Out
Externally, the 2025 Opel Grandland boasts a confident stance with the signature illuminated 3D Vizor front grille featuring the glowing Opel Blitz logo. Intelli-Lux Pixel HD matrix lights incorporate over 50 000 elements for superior glare-free illumination – ideal for South African night drives or European highways.
At the rear, illuminated “OPEL” lettering spans a full-width light bar, complemented by black cladding and a floating roof effect. Dimensions have grown significantly: 4 650 mm long (+173 mm), 1 905 mm wide (+64 mm), and 1 661 mm tall (+19 mm), mounted on 19-inch alloys with 225/55 R19 tyres for poised handling on varied roads.
Inside, the detoxed Pure Panel cockpit features a 16-inch touchscreen and digital driver display for a clean, modern interface. Upscale materials, including recycled fabrics, heated/massage front seats, and extra rear legroom enhance comfort. Practicality shines with 550 litres of boot space (up 36 litres), clever 35-litre storage solutions like the illuminated Pixel Box, and a space-saver spare.

Performance & Conclusion
Performance comes from the proven 1.6-litre turbo petrol engine delivering 134 kW and 300 Nm, mated to a smooth 6-speed automatic. It achieves 0-100 km/h in around 8.8 seconds with claimed fuel economy of 7.0 L/100 km combined – competitive for a family SUV in South Africa. The new chassis with frequency-selective damping ensures composed rides over potholes or long-distance cruises.
Safety is comprehensive: adaptive cruise with Stop & Go, 360-degree camera, lane-change assist, night vision, and full ADAS suite. Backed by a 5-year/100,000 km warranty and 5-year/90 000 km service plan.
Globally, the Opel Grandland 2025 appeals strongly in Germany with its precise engineering and available electric/hybrid variants (up to 700 km range in Europe). In South Africa, its premium styling and tech make it a standout best midsize SUV contender, though the price competes against feature-loaded alternatives.
