Suzuki South Africa has just launched its newest model in the local market. Called the Fronx, the model is the first of three to enter the South African market in the remainder of 2023, with the others being the five-door Jimny 4×4 and XL6 SUV.
As with all its vehicles, Suzuki aims to position the Fronx as a value-for-money offering in the market, combining it with a unique style and, as per the Japanese automaker, the performance to match.
“With our new Fronx, we want to show South Africans that they do not have to compromise on style, performance and safety when buying in the compact SUV segment,” says Brendon Carpenter, brand marketing manager of Suzuki Auto South Africa.
“And to sweeten the deal, we have added all the must-have styling options, such as roof rails, daytime running lights, and alloy wheels to all models, regardless of their specification level or price.”

Ground clearance is 170mm and the alloy wheels are shod with 195/60 R16 tyres.
On the top GLX models, owners are treated to, among other things, a 9-inch full-colour information screen, faux leather inserts in the door panels, and a 360-degree composite video image. The multimedia system is also Android Auto and Apple CarPlay compatible.

Power and gearbox
Suzuki deployed its familiar and applauded 1.5-litre four-cylinder petrol engine in the Fronx.
Codenamed K15B, the naturally aspirated motor churns out 77kW and 138Nm, ensuring that the 1 010kg Fronx has a nippy driving trait.
Just one engine is offered, but it is mated to either a five-speed manual or four-speed automatic transmission.
