Latest tech dials Range Rover Velar cabin up to 11

The Velar provides customary Range Rover refinement, with heightened comfort and convenience.

Land Rover South Africa adds a suite of advanced comfort features to its Range Rover Velar line-up. The additions are not just for the top-end models, but the entire range covering Dynamic SE, Dynamic HSE, and Autobiography models.

Standard across the range is Active Road Noise Cancellation (ARNC). This feature reduces road noises that are transmitted into the cabin via sensors in each wheel. The system calculates an audio signal that’s played over the speakers to reduce the decibel level inside the cabin.

The exterior noises are reduced by four decibels and the ARNC finetunes the reduction to suit each passenger.

According to Land Rover SA, “the technology delivers a more peaceful drive and helps to alleviate fatigue over long journeys, which can be brought about by exposure to low-frequency noises over extended periods.”

A cleaner cabin

Land Rover also updated the Range Rover Velar’s interior, but much of it happened behind the dashboard. The latest Cabin Air Purification Plus system is now in the SUV, allowing clean air into the cabin.

The air filtration system utilises a PM2.5 Enhanced Filtration setup that detects the fine particles infiltrating the cabin. The system is activated via the Purify button on the Pivi Pro system and it reduces the carbon dioxide inside the cabin.

Other interior tidbits include 14-way electrically adjusted front seats on Dynamic SE models with a memory function for the driver’s seat, while Dynamic HSE models also feature the memory function but 20-way front seats. The rear seats can recline electronically.

In the Autobiography model, the seat technologies are carried over from the Dynamic HSE models, but the front seats are heated and cooled.

Boot space is a mammoth 748 litres, but expands to 1 811 L with the rear seats folded down.
